Environmental Waste Producer Registration Halesowen

Generally, if your premises or business creates or holds 500kg or more of hazardous waste in one year, then under the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, you will have to register.

What this means is that even in the event the hazardous waste wasn’t produced at your site, you have to still register. If you have more than one premises in your business each site must be individually filed and have their particular assumption code. In case the quantity of hazardous waste is lower than 500kg in any one year, you are automatically classed as exempt and do not need to register.

When we register your premises we give you a unique premises number called a ‘premises code’. The registration is not just a business registration. The regulations stipulate that each site that produces hazardous waste must have another registration, although multiple sites may be registered on precisely the same notification. Consequently each site will have a separate unique registration number and need a separate fee.

Consequently any business who is not filed with the Environment Agency as a maker of waste (and making more than 500kg per year, per site) can not have their waste collected legally and is actually committing an offence merely by producing the waste.

If hazardous waste continues to be created or held at these premises following the 12 month period has lapsed, then the premises code has to be revived. We can renew a premises code up to a month in advance of the expiry date.
